Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya foi a capital tailandesa por 417 anos (1350-1767) e chegou a ser conhecida por ser uma das maiores cidades do mundo.

Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya was the Thai capital for 417 years (1350-1767) and was for some time one of the biggest cities in the world.

Esta antiga capital do Reino de Ayutthaya, fundada em 1350 pelo rei U-Thong, teve 33 reis de diferentes dinastias e atingiu o seu auge em meados do sec XVIII. A cidade possuia 3 palacios e mais de 400 templos.

Founded in 1350 by King U-Tong, it had 33 kings from different dynasties and became very famous around the 18th century. Ayutthaya had 3 palaces and more than 400 temples.

Wat Yai Chaya Mongkol

Depois de uma batalha que durou cerca de 15 meses, o Reino de Ayutthaya foi conquistado e totalmente destruido pelos birmaneses em 1767.

During 1767 a battle, that took over 15 months to be over, against the Burmese destroyed the city.

Na atualidade é possível visitar Ayutthaya e andar pelas ruínas dos templos e palacios queimados e ver as estatuas sem cabeças e os Budas que restaram de um imperio que uma vez foi tao prospero.

Nowadays its possible to walk around the city and see the ruins of the temples and palaces that were burned down. Statues without heads and the Buddhas that survived the time.
